Blessed Chiara Luce touched the lives of many people around the world who through her found solace and light, especially in difficult moments. But for Jessica, the encounter with Chiara Luce was something that changed her entire way of living and helped her discover her own vocation.
Chiara Luce was born in Italy in 1971. When she was 16 she was diagnosed with osteogenic sarcoma, a painful bone cancer. Chiara died on October 7th, 1990, at the age of 18. She lived her life and illness with such faith and grace that she was beatified by the Catholic Church in 2010.
She became a member of the Focolare when she was 9 and lived the spirituality of the Focolare until her last days. In fact, she received her middle name “Luce” (which means light) from the foundress of the Focolare, Chiara Lubich. Here you can find two new books about her life.
