A Hearth for the Human Family 2024
Join us for the annual Hearth conference that brings together scholars and practitioners from diverse fields providing a collaborative space for participants to actively contribute ideas, share practical examples, and exchange successful strategies to foster unity.
In a world marked by division and conflict, this year’s focus is peacebuilding. We will ask what being a peacemaker means in today’s society, reimagine how we can work for peace in a variety of settings, and hope together for a more peaceful future for our human family.
Keynote and Plenary Speakers
Rebecca Cataldi
Rebecca is a specialist and trainer in conflict resolution and preventing/countering violent extremism (P/CVE) with experience in more than 80 countries. She currently serves as ICRD’s Senior Program Director, where she directs ICRD’s programs in various countries including Yemen, Mali, Lebanon, and Jordan, and works on depolarization initiatives with religious communities in the United States. In addition to her work at ICRD, she has conducted conflict resolution training within the US prison system, led community interfaith programs, facilitated Western-Muslim World dialogues, and is a volunteer with Braver Angels’ depolarization work.
Fadi Chehade
Fadi is the Managing Partner & Co-founder of Ethos Capital. He is an Internet entrepreneur who founded, grew, and sold numerous information services companies including Connectica, RosettaNet, Hewlett Packard, SAP Software, Nokia, Oracle, Viacore, and Vocado. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Donuts Inc. and Interactions LLC and the Advisory Board of the University of Southern California Center on Public Diplomacy. Fadi was senior advisor to Klaus Schwab, the Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum, and a member of the UN Secretary General’s High-Level Panel on Digital Cooperation. The Carnegie Corporation of New York recently honored him as a 2020 Great Immigrant.
John Mundell
John is president/CEO and senior environmental consultant for Mundell & Associates, Inc., an earth science, environmental, and water resources consulting firm based in Indianapolis. He is a professional engineer, licensed geologist, social entrepreneur, and climate activist with over 40 years of consulting experience. John has provided consulting support to the United States Catholic Conference of Bishops, the Vatican’s Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development, and the United Nations Development Program. In July 2022, he was appointed by Pope Francis to be the Global Director of the Vatican’s Laudato Si’ Action Platform.

The conference will take place at the Oblate School of Theology (285 Oblate Dr, San Antonio, TX 78216). As it is close to San Antonio International Airport there are many hotels nearby.
