Teens4Unity  -  WHO ARE WE?

The Young for Unity of the Focolare Movement

is sponsoring the third edition of the worldwide sports-relay: Run4unity.

 Sports to build peace together.

After the first and second Run4Unity in 2005 and 2008
participated in by more than 100,000 young people
in 340 cities and 89 nations,
youth of different ethnic backgrounds, cultures and religions
will again run together united, through significant places of the world
to symbolically spread a rainbow of universal brotherhood throughout the world.

These young people will be the protagonists of
a worldwide Expo of brotherhood by taking part in various concrete actions
through their local and international project "Let's Color our City."

The youth from the Fiji Islands will start the event beginning with their local time. Through a link-up via internet, they will pass the "baton" to the next time zone. In a twenty-four hour period this marathon for peace will take place in all parts of the globe, participated by important personalities in the world of sports and culture, as well as civic and religious authorities.

The sports events will take place in significant sites which are symbols of peace, or across borders between countries in conflict or through cities where there is still a lot of tension: the goal is to bear witness to our commitment to build unity and peace everywhere.

Run4Unity 2008 was also a worldwide Expo of Brotherhood through various concrete actions through their local and international project "Let's Color our City." This initiative launched by the Teens for Unity in 2005, aims at 'coloring' every "gray area" of our cities with love: nursing homes, orphanages, areas where immigrants still need help to integrate into society, public parks to be cleaned up, camps or places where there are the marginalized. These groups of young people, in agreement with their city officials and linked among them through a universal website (www.teens4unity.net), are protagonists of active citizenship and promoters of a future of peace and unity among peoples.

The message of the Run4Unity 2012 opens an invitation to the participants to say "Yes" to their responsibility to face current challenges, becoming a strong and cohesive force within our pluralistic society (see attached message for more details).

The Young for Unity is the youth branch of the Focolare Movement. They come from different cultures, languages, religions and ethnic backgrounds and at present 150,000 teens and children participate in its activities in 182 countries. Their goal is to live for a more united world by spreading peace, brotherhood and the culture of giving to as many people as possible. They try to overcome divisions within families, between generations, in their schools and in any environment they find themselves in. They promote various local and international events such as fund-raising, sports activities, concerts, projects for ecology, forums and marches for peace.
