The Word of Life Project is an initiative for 2012 to not only read the word of life and put it into practice,
but to share the real-life results of doing so.  This collection of testimonials is meant to encourage all of
us to pick up the word of life, read it, live it and share it.  Stay tuned for an experience submission form!

Stress behind the wheel Print E-mail

On my drive home from work, it can take anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes to travel just a few miles on the road leading to my house because of construction.

It can be very stressful, especially when cars start cutting in at the front of the line.  I always try to be courteous by not blocking driveways and letting people in line who have their blinkers on.  Often if I feel that someone isn’t being fair I’ll get mad and try to keep them from cutting in front of me which, makes the drive even more stressful.

Saying the rosary helps but the other day when the traffic was backed up pretty far and lots of cars starting cutting in line, I became very agitated and told myself I wasn’t going to let anyone cut in front of me.  Suddenly, the thought came to me, Is this the way to “seek what is above, to “belong to Christ’s world”?  Those words came from the January Word of Life that I should have been living:

"If then you were raised with Christ, seek what is above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God." (Col. 3:1)

Suddenly I had a conversion of heart and felt very petty for letting something like this upset me.  I immediately calmed down and instead of feeling angry I felt at peace and motioned for a car to come in front of me.  My anger was now replaced with joy for having loved my neighbor.
