Experiences of Life

The Word of Life Project is an initiative for 2012 to not only read the word of life and put it into practice,
but to share the real-life results of doing so. This collection of testimonials is meant to encourage all of
us to pick up the word of life, read it, live it and share it. Stay tuned for an experience submission form!

My little boy who has Down Syndrome was ill for the entire week before school was out. He was feeling more and more bored as he gradually felt better, but still not well enough for school. I went into the game room to find it a MESS! My first instinct was to loudly insist that everything be put back away. But, the Word of Life changed how I saw my son’s effort: “Blessed are the pure of heart, for they will see God.” (Mt. 5:8) I heard myself asking what all of this ‘arrangement’ was about. He was so happy to explain the obstacle course – which, by the way, was very creative! He utilized blankets, furniture, belts, stability balls, raisins, tinker-toys, etc. Perhaps you are visualizing the extent of the MESS? I was not really interested in participating with him, however, real LOVE would not merely participate but it would truly join – and be ‘one’ with him in the game. We took turns timing each other to see in what time we each could complete the course. We cheered for every result as if it was the world record. It was really fun! How I wish I could be more open to such things – but, the reminder of my son’s pure heart by the Word of Life helped me take the first step! Mother, Southwest Region
