The Word of Life Project is an initiative for 2012 to not only read the word of life and put it into practice,
but to share the real-life results of doing so.  This collection of testimonials is meant to encourage all of
us to pick up the word of life, read it, live it and share it.  Stay tuned for an experience submission form!

Finding my long-lost sister Print E-mail
Monday, January 16, 2012

My sister Pat, who is six years older than me, had grown more and more isolated from my siblings and I.  She likes to give lectures on her past and talk about how hard her life was as a child.  I had not seen her in years.

The little voice of the Holy Spirit within me nagged at me. While visiting another sister, I asked her to go with me to see Pat, but she refused. Finally I borrowed that sister's car, drove myself to Pat's house and I was ready to go to love her.  I did not call ahead in case she might tell me not to come. Pat was very surprised to see me at her front door, to say the least.

The Word of Life that month was:

"Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom."  (2 Cor 3:17)

I hadn't rehearsed anything to say.  Right away, the Holy Spirit put the right words and my mouth. I asked her to thank her children for participating in my daughter's funeral.  Pat was glad and told me about what a good time she'd had with my daughter when they had visited alone in the past. She even showed me my daughter's picture which is still on her refrigerator. She had changed since we last met years ago.

The Word of Life helped me to break the ice, and I found a long lost sister again.
