For a few days following August 28th, 12,000 young people from more than 100 countries gave a youthful face to the Hungarian capital of Budapest. Among them were fifteenyoung people from the Midwest. It was the tenth edition of the international Genfest, the "celebration" of the youth, with the title: "Let's Bridge"- let’s build bridges!

The Youth for a United World and Gen Movement of the Midwest are gearing up for Genfest 2012! This Labor Day weekend, about twenty teens and young adults from Chicago, St. Louis, Indianapolis, and Columbus will journey to Budapest, Hungary.

On Saturday, August 20, 2011, as two million young people gathered around the Holy Father at the Madrid World Youth Day Vigil, 1,200 teens and young adults of the Archdiocese of Chicago met for "WYD-Chicago Style" at Maryville, near Chicago.
