Muslim and Christian Youth working together for the Homeless

Fifty years ago it would not have happened.  During Christmas, 2010 Muslim young people from the Ephraim Bahar Cultural Center and Christian youth of the Focolare Movement engaged in an interreligious experience of “dialogue of life.” Living out together one of the principal tenets of both religions—to recognize the presence of God the poor—we demonstrated how the world can be changed for the better.

Chiara Luce Badano (1971-1990) - beatified Saturday, Sept. 25th, 2010 at the Shrine of Our Lady of Divine Love in Rome, Italy.

 

Bishop Maritano, promoter of the cause, said Chiara Luce is "an incredible witness of faith and strength for the youth of today". And Chiara Lubich, founder of the Focolare Movement, said in 2000: "How much light in her words, in her letters in her life. She is a model and witness both for youth and for adults".

 

 

World Unity Week!

World Unity Week, usually held in May of every year, is the annual appointment of Youth For a United World held all over the world. It serves as an occasion to influence public opinion with their ideas, by getting civic and religious institutions and mass media involved.

 

In 2011, WUW is from May 1st to May 8th.

Chiara Luce Badano had a generous and lively personality. She was born in 1971 in Sassello, Italy, an only child conceived after 11 years of marriage.  At age 9 she heard about the Focolare’s ideal of unity from some of her friends and discovered a new way of living and thinking which satisfied her thirst for God.Click here for complete article in Living City Magazine.
