Annamaria and Danilo Zanzucchi are first married couple entrusted with writing meditations for the Good Friday observance in Rome.

As announced by the Vatican, Pope Benedict XVI has chosen Annamaria and Danilo Zanzucchi of the Focolare Movement to write the meditations for the 2012 Way of the Cross, which will take place during Good Friday observances on April 6th at Rome’s Colosseum. This year’s meditations will acknowledge the family’s vital role in sanctifying the world.

Sunday, September 27, 2009 – 10:30 a.m. International Center of the Focolare Movement – Rocca di Papa (Rome), Italy Official closing of the Diocesan phase for the Cause of Beatification and Canonization of the Servant of God IGINO GIORDANI (Tivoli 1894 – Rocca di Papa 1980)

One of the most renowned persons of the 1900’s, father of 4 children, writer, journalist, politician, ecumenist,  expert on the Fathers of the Church and co-founder of the Focolare Movement, for his contribution to the spreading of the charism of unity, especially in the family,  in ecumenical,  political and various other aspects of society.

 

In response to many questions, we wanted to share with everyone some news of the effects of the violent earthquake that hit central Italy and killed 200 people.

It sparked a wave of solidarity and support. In fact about 70 people were saved because of the promptness of the rescuers.

We got in touch with the local Focolare community. All the Focolare people in the area are now welcoming those who cannot go back to their homes. 

There are many experiences:

Focolare community readies itself to elect the first president to succeed its founder Journalists, lay people and clergy, upon hearing of Chiara Lubich’s passing on March 14, 2008, all try to understand how her extraordinary legacy will live on and how the movement she founded with more than 2 million adherents worldwide will go ahead without its charismatic leader. Interest, curiosity, apprehension—one’s state of mind may vary, yet a common question arises:

On May 10th, a planetary relay race took place. Youth from 10-17 years old ran to promote their ideal and their commitment for peace and unity.
