Encounters in the Spirit of Universal Brotherhood - Chicago - Living the Word of God
June 8, 2008, over one hundred people gathered at the Mariapolis Center for a day of fellowship and deepening our common experience in living the Word of God.
A delicious and lively potluck lunch on the lawn began the day.
Reflections on Living the Word of God from a Muslim and from a Christian point of view opened the program, followed by experiences, songs, a skit prepared by the group from Indianapolis, and a beautiful dance. Then we took a moment to break into smaller groups to get to know each other better and share experiences on living the Word.
The weather man had predicted rain but then as one Muslim friend said, "Look at the beautiful sunshine - God must be very happy with us" In fact the rain held off until the last song was over.
"It seems like I've always known you! I want to be part of this universal family!", commented a young muslim girl who participated for the first time. Another young laday said, "I can't believe I'm here and everyone is so happy! Next time, I'm bringing my sister!" In fact, the atmosphere of family was so strong it reminded us of paradise.
