Wdsc_0068she thank God for the very many graces received on March 14th, where all over the world Chiara’s charism and figure were remembered and at Mariapolis Luminosa was followed by the Luminosa Award for Unity.

Large rainstorms and floods hit our zone, but at Luminosa during the intervals it didn’t rain! A participant commented “Someone protects this place.” Over 250 people were able to come, much more than expecteddsc_0025.

The program here at the little city went in depth into a particular of the impact of Chiara in the world of the family, with some of her answers, each one followed by strong life experiences of some of our families and then by a solemn Mass, celebrated by Archbishop Celestino Migliore, Permanent Observer of the Holy See to the UN. It was a witness to Chiara and the relevance of the charism.

In the afternoon we had the Luminosa Award for Unity ceremony, this year conferred, to Howard and Rose Belcher, the first married focolarini from North America. Every one was touched and moved by their personal message.

With their acceptance speech, they decided to share their very incisive and concrete experiences, which deeply touched everyone. What came into relief was how the charism can be a light that makes the family shine and renews the world of the family. Many said: “We could touch with our hands the life of unity.”

Everyone left with the commitment to make the world a family.
