On May 10^th, a planetary relay race took place. Youth from 10-17 years old ran to promote their ideal and their commitment for peace and unity.

At Mariapolis Luminosa 150 people participated in the Run 4 Unity event. We started the day with songs and choreography, followed by experiences on how we lived the Golden Rule and the internet link-up with Rome. The link-up made us feel connected with the youth all over the world. This made us feel strong because we saw how many we are living for the same Ideal.

Everyone had a chance to meet with people from their area, and in the afternoon we split into teams for sports and games. Different guest speakers: Fr. Tom Ess, a Franciscan priest, Rabbi Michael Shevack, Director of Communications at the Center for Christian-Jewish Understanding at Sacred Heart University in Bridgeport, CT and Robert Linville, Councilman of the Town of Hyde Park, spoke to us about the importance of the Golden Rule. During our “Relay Hour” the participants ran around Luminosa, with the flags of the 50 states of the Unites States as their “batons,” representing the unity of the country. The event ended at Mariapolis Luminosa’s soccer field where we sent a bunch of balloons into the sky as a “thank you” to Chiara Lubich, and participants signed a commitment to live the Golden Rule.
