The Word of Life Project is an initiative for 2012 to not only read the word of life and put it into practice,
but to share the real-life results of doing so.  This collection of testimonials is meant to encourage all of
us to pick up the word of life, read it, live it and share it.  Stay tuned for an experience submission form!

Turning off the television 인쇄 E-mail

I have a tendency to watch too much television – sometimes it's on in the house all day long, even if I'm not watching.  I have really wanted to break free of this temptation, but have had a hard time.

“Watch and pray that you may not undergo the test. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” (Mt 26:41)

After asking God's help over the summer, He seemed to suggest that I could start by having TV-free days twice a week.  It was hard to stick to, but I found I was able to do God's will with much more attention on those days.  The temptation always creeps back in, and sometimes my "weak flesh" grabs the remote on off days while I make up excuses in my mind.

In late November, I turned on the television so I could listen to Christmas carols on one of the satellite radio stations, but my favorite show was on.  Even though it was a Tuesday, a "no-TV" day, I watched the show until the commercial break.  All of a sudden I heard the words "stay awake" in my heart, which came from that month's Word of Life.

“Therefore, stay awake, for you know neither the day nor the hour." (Mt 25:13)

I quickly flipped it to the music station and realized that living the Word is what can help me overcome my temptations.
