The Word of Life Project is an initiative for 2012 to not only read the word of life and put it into practice,
but to share the real-life results of doing so.  This collection of testimonials is meant to encourage all of
us to pick up the word of life, read it, live it and share it.  Stay tuned for an experience submission form!

How the Word helped me concentrate 인쇄 E-mail

I felt excitement at the thought of being at an upcoming Focolare gathering, and while driving the distance to get there, I experienced an ever stronger sense of anticipation.

By the time I arrived, I was ready to give all of myself to loving.

It was a beautiful day; the program was very rich, and even in the afternoon when concentrating is sometimes more difficult, I was able to give my full attention, loving each speaker and the neighbor who was next to me.  On the second day I found myself struggling to concentrate.  My mind just didn't seem to be able to follow the talks, and I felt frustrated.  After doing a quick self-examination, I realized that I was absorbed in myself: remembering conversations with others, comparing myself to others, worrying about how I was going to do a little task that had been asked of me, etc.

Then in an instant the Word of Life came to mind:  "Stay awake."

“Therefore, stay awake, for you know neither the day nor the hour." (Mt 25:13)

I sensed that Jesus was helping me understand his will.  I could wipe the slate clean and start again by forgetting myself so as to love.  I was tempted again later to withdraw into my thoughts, but his Word was just the strong help that I needed.
