Words To Live By
The Gospel in Everyday Life
The Mariapolis - a "little city where the only law is love. Many are held in a in variety of settings, with differnt programs, yet each of these temporary "Cities of Mary" (hence the name Mariapolis) is a protion of society renewed by evangelical love. Cultural, racial, religious, generational differences disappear in this mosaic of humanity made one family by a common desire to live out the Golden rule "Do to others as you would want done to you". Mariapolis, an occasion to gather with many and, in a dialogue of true openness learn to be gift for one another.
The program includes presentations and experiences on living the spirituality of unity in everyday life.
There are also moments for prayer, recollection, sharing, games, and other activities.
When I go to the Mariapolis: “I think of thousands of people coming together as one, loving each other.” “It helps me live life moment by moment.” “It shows me that God’s gifts are to be shared with everyone else.”

On Sunday, March 4, 2012, “Dare to Love” was the title of the event that gathered nearly 300 people, mostly families, in Madera, California. Approximately, 100 of the participants were children and teenagers.
Through talks, testimonies and games all participants were offered concrete examples on how to live the Gospel in today's world. Special focus was given to what is known as the art of loving, which can be summarized in four principles: be the first to love, love Jesus in every person, love everyone, love your enemies. Personal experiences exemplified how these four points applied to day to day circumstances can improve relationships within the family, with friends, at school, and at work.
At the end of the event, some of the participants commented:
“Thank you for giving us the opportunity to know how to act in difficult situations”
“I understood that God is at my side and the only thing I need to do is to love”
“You filled my heart with joy. My daughters attended this meeting with me and they were really impacted by it. I thank God for this opportunity. I felt that I grew as a person and in my soul today. Thank you”
“I was very touched today. I discovered the Art of Loving”
“You showed me how to love like Jesus did”
“I was really impressed. You don’t have an idea how much this event has touched me. It is my very first time attending, but I know the Holy Spirit was present here “ |

Seventeen organizations and movements make a difference at a health fair in San Diego
It’s a sunny morning in the Martin Luther King Jr. Park in San Diego, a green area that is the central recreational site in the neighborhood. Home mostly to disadvantaged families in which, come the end of the month, there’s little money left. Meals tend to be low cost — burgers, fries, and no fresh fruit or vegetables.

The life of Blessed Chiara Luce Badano was presented on the bustling campus of the University of Southern California (USC), in Los Angeles on February 28th.
Taper Hall sits on a corner, which in the afternoon, is crawling with students and professors biking and walking to and from class. It was in this Hall, with over a hundred people present, where the lively, attractive life of Chiara Luce was portrayed through songs, narration, and experiences. Her commitment and simple, but intense life of love became evident through her quotes and letters. Experiences of young people giving witness to their efforts in living a life of the gospel followed.

Chiara Luce Badano (1971-1990) - beatified Saturday, Sept. 25th, 2010 at the Shrine of Our Lady of Divine Love in Rome, Italy.
Bishop Maritano, promoter of the cause, said Chiara Luce is "an incredible witness of faith and strength for the youth of today". And Chiara Lubich, founder of the Focolare Movement, said in 2000: "How much light in her words, in her letters in her life. She is a model and witness both for youth and for adults".
