Welcome to the 50th anniversary of the Focolare Movement in North America!

This year we are giving thanks to God for the gift of the spirituality of unity and celebrating all it has done in the lives of so many people, in so many ways.

Much has happened, from the arrival of the first members to New York in 1961, to their journeys into Canada, Puerto Rico and the Carribean in the 70’s.

As the 80’s marched in, the Focolare reached the Dominican Republic, Washington DC and the west coast, and many cities in between. The Focolare mini-city for North America was started in 1986, called Mariapolis Luminosa.

The 90’s witnessed Chiara Lubich addressing the United Nations, and then a group of African American Muslims at a Mosque in Harlem, NY...

As the new millennium began we found ourselves in cities such as Houston and Atlanta.

Yes, much has happened.

In the coming months we will flash back to episodes and events that lead up to this moment. We’ll recall the many gatherings held, the discoveries made, the new and re-kindled friendships, the spiritual and physical journeys, the many songs, bands, mottos, presentations and new beginnings.

Travel back with us as we glance at the many graces God has bestowed.

Join us in celebrating!
