What is the economy of communion in freedom project (“EoC”) and how is it a resource for business education?  These questions were addressed by Linda Specht’s paper presentation at Notre Dame University on June 11, as part of the “Business Education at Catholic Universities” conference.

“We are still trying to find those who are lost and care for the wounded,” wrote Sr. Marie Thé from Carice, Haiti, “but we have to think of the future, tomorrow and the days after. Many families are poor and we need to find solutions for the students. We are experiencing trouble on every side, but are not crushed; we trust in God who loves us immensely. Our people will not die; it will live.”

The Luminosa Award begun in 1988 recognizes persons or associations whose lives and works have given a significant contribution to building bridges of mutual understanding and concern among the diverse Christian denominations and major faith traditions and all people of good will in all aspects of social life.

‘Over the next few days the person and teachings of Chiara Lubich will be remembered in many countries throughout the world. This occasion gives us the opportunity to thank God for the great gift that Chiara is for humanity and to re-focus on the living strength of the charism of unity, which has touched the lives of people of different cultures, traditions and faiths.

It is with his death on the cross on Good Friday that Jesus teaches the most sublime, divine, heroic lesson of what love is.

This year’s Luminosa Award for Unity has been awarded to Dr. Anthony Cernera , president of Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut, and president of the International Federation of Catholic Universities which represents Catholic colleges and universities. The award ceremony took place during a conference titled, “The Search for Unity: the Role of Religiously Affiliated Colleges and Universities,” sponsored by the Focolare’s Center for Education in Dialogue .
