2010 Annual Luminosa Award for Unity

The Luminosa Award begun in 1988 recognizes persons or associations whose lives and works have given a significant contribution to building bridges of mutual understanding and concern among the diverse Christian denominations and major faith traditions and all people of good will in all aspects of social life. 

“We are still trying to find those who are lost and care for the wounded,” wrote Sr. Marie Thé from Carice, Haiti, “but we have to think of the future, tomorrow and the days after. Many families are poor and we need to find solutions for the students. We are experiencing trouble on every side, but are not crushed; we trust in God who loves us immensely. Our people will not die; it will live.”

One of the most renowned persons of the 1900’s, father of 4 children, writer, journalist, politician, ecumenist,  expert on the Fathers of the Church and co-founder of the Focolare Movement, for his contribution to the spreading of the charism of unity, especially in the family,  in ecumenical,  political and various other aspects of society.

2009 marks the 18th anniversary of the EoC.  A return to our roots, a look at today’s accomplishments and tomorrow’s goals along with the emerging collaboration between the businesses and academia were featured at the annual meeting.

In response to many questions, we wanted to share with everyone some news of the effects of the violent earthquake that hit central Italy and killed 200 people.

It sparked a wave of solidarity and support. In fact about 70 people were saved because of the promptness of the rescuers.

We got in touch with the local Focolare community. All the Focolare people in the area are now welcoming those who cannot go back to their homes.
