The 12,000 young people of a hundred countries who will be present at the appointment in Budapest (Aug 31 to Sept 9), represent tens of thousands of their contemporaries in the world who share the ideal of fraternity.
The Genfest was born from a prophetic intuition of Chiara Lubich, founder of the Focolare Movement. The Genfest is a meeting of young people who want to show the world that universal brotherhood, a united world, is an Ideal worth living for.
"Let's bridge" is the title of the 10th edition of the Genfest, the "celebration" of the youth.

Malcolm Shabbazz Mosque & Focolare Movement (New York)
Sunday, May 20, 2012 Commemoration and celebration of the 15th anniversary of the unique and timely “pact” of Chiara Lubich and W. D. Mohammed.
“Our Journey Towards the Excellence of the Human Family”
On May 18, 1997, history was made at the Historic Malcolm Shabazz Mosque in Harlem, NY.
On that day, two blessed leaders, Imam W. D. Mohammed (religious and spiritual leader of the largest constituency of Muslims in America), and Chiara Lubich (president and spiritual leader of the Focolare Movement worldwide), held a joint meeting at the Mosque to formalize a “pact” illustrating their commitment to work together to promote unity. This collaboration was not only between their own communities, but also with people of faith from all religions, based on common principles and values.

3 February, during the United Nations Conference on Eradicating Poverty
During a splendid sunny day, with unusually mild temperatures for New York City at this time of year, on Friday, 3 February, our much anticipated event of the EOC was held at the United Nations. Together with the different speakers, we arrived to New York from all over the world (Alexis from Burundi, Claudia from Brazil, Nikko from the Philippines, Elizabeth from Boston, John and Dan from Indianapolis, and other young people from Boston and New York City) between 1 -2 February, just in time to decide together the last details of the program and to be in tune. The forum that was assigned to us was one of the main meeting halls, with a lot of space and two big screens for our Powerpoint presentations.
