Event description:
The North American Association of the Economy of Communion in Freedom and The Catholic University of
America invite you to a conference on The Business of Working in Communion: Managing a Person-Centered Business.

Relational goods, reciprocity, gratuitousness, communion. These are all words that describe different ways to understand human relationships. In fact, the EoC can also be seen as a different culture of work relationships. This gathering will focus on the role that relationships play within a company, between the company and its local community, and between the company and the larger global community. How is this style of business different from what is typically thought of as corporate social responsibility? How does making a business a ‘place of communion’ impact the workers, the owners and those in need that enter into relationships with the company?

We will explore all of this, and more, as we look toward the 20th anniversary of the start of the Economy of Communion in Freedom, a new global reality with over 750 participating businesses located in 50 countries.

"Charity in truth … requires that shape and structure be given to those types of economic initiative which, without rejecting profit, aim at a higher goal than the mere logic of the exchange of equivalents, of profit as an end in itself.”
Pope Benedict XVI, Caritas in Veritate
